Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) like UPCs or EANs are often required for listing products on Amazon. However, sellers can apply for GTIN exemptions for specific products. Here’s a step-by-step guide for beginners:
Step 1: Understand GTIN Exemption
GTIN exemptions allow sellers to list products without UPCs or EANs. This applies if:
- Your product doesn’t have a GTIN (e.g., handmade items).
- You’re listing under a specific brand or product type.
Step 2: Prepare Before Applying
Ensure the following:
- Brand Name Consistency: The brand name must match your product. Use "Generic" if unbranded.
- Clear Product Images: Upload real, non-stock images showing product details.
- Correct Product Details: Align descriptions with category and application requirements.
Step 3: Submit Your Application
- Login to Amazon Seller Central.
- Go to Catalog > Add Products > Apply for GTIN Exemption.
- Select the Product Category and provide the brand name or "Generic."
- Upload supporting documents and images.
Step 4: Review and Approval
- Amazon may request additional information.
- Once approved, list your products as per the exemption guidelines.
